Formed by Rod Smith FCII FCILA and Richard Knibb ACII FCILA, The Claims Consultancy is a formidable resource which is available to Brokers, Solicitors, Accountants and the public to provide expert advice on all aspects of claims handling.

The company can also provide tailor-made training on claims, property underwriting, business interruption, data protection and everyday FSA procedures.

During their careers as Loss Adjusters Rod and Richard have been generally impressed with the way in which Insurers have endeavoured to provide an efficient and equitable claims handling service.

However, in a world in which there are increasing pressures on margins, Insurers have sought to save costs by reducing fees to independent Loss Adjusters and locking them into panel agreements which can threaten their impartiality.

In some cases Insurers bring claim handling entirely ‘in-house’ which means that the claimant is denied any form of unbiased advice.

At the very least the huge cost cutting that has occurred has led to a major loss of claims expertise, experience and interpersonal skills within the industry, which can result in mishandling of claims due to inexperience and ignorance.

These factors can make it desirable for the claimant to have professional representation. Obviously there are Loss Assessors working in this sector but it is our aim to take the service available to the public to new levels of professionalism.
