International

We are pleased to act for policyholders or for Insurers on serious losses outside the United Kingdom.

We undertake work for Insurers where they require bespoke expert, impartial adjustment of losses, in accordance with the true tradition of chartered loss adjusters.

We work for policyholders when they need expert advice on what their insurance policy covers, or need help in negotiations with local adjusters or Insurers.

Between us, we have handled claims in France, Bahrain, Jordan, the Emirates, Hong Kong, the Caymans, the Virgin Islands and St Thomas.

Here are some examples of our work abroad.


Hurricane losses in the Cayman Islands

We assisted local loss adjusters in the Cayman Islands, where they were struggling with the complexities of hurricane losses of $750,000 for Increased Costs of Working to relocate an office-based business off-island.

We also adjusted claims for them for $2,000,000 of warehouse Stock, and Business Interruption under a Dual Basis wages policy.

We concluded both losses amicably and reported to Insurers in full, within 10 days of our involvement.


UK manufacturer facing a claim from France

We acted for a manufacturer in the UK who was faced with an uninsured claim from a customer in France for losses of € 2,000,000 following the supply of allegedly faulty products. When our client asked us what we would do differently from the solicitors he had used on a previous, similar claim, we said simply that we would telephone the claimant personally and then go at once to see him and find out face-to-face the merits or otherwise of his claim.

At subsequent long meetings with the claimant and his advisers, we came to the view that there was nothing wrong with the products that our client supplied, but that the claimant has himself chosen a component that was incapable of performing the tasks he expected of it. We accordingly rejected the claim for our clients and the claimant conceded defeat.

All negotiations took place in French, where Rod’s fluency combined with Richard’s insight into the claimant and his actions proved a winning mix.
