After a serious fire in a health and fitness club, we advised
the Insured and broker on how to formulate, present and negotiate
the claims with their Insurers' loss adjusters. The broker wrote
to say
"This claim is now nearing a conclusion. The settlement of the
Material Damage and Business Interruption is well over £1 million.
I am writing to thank you for your efforts in the successful negotiation
of this claim and your participation at such an early stage was
key to the success of the claim."
"It is rare in the insurance industry these days to work
with true professionals, but in this instance I was very pleased
to be part of your team! I am sure that my clients are equally
as grateful."
In another instance, an Insurer had flatly refused a very serious
claim for a High Net Worth Client. At the broker's request, we
looked into the claim and damage in detail and explained to the
Insurers' adjusters the true extent of cover given by the policy.
The Insurers nevertheless continued to resist the claim very firmly.
We then brought forward still more arguments, based on case law,
the rules of contract, the principles of insurance, market practice
and the Ombudsman's views. The broker kept up a dialogue with
the Insurers, whose case weakened and collapsed. They agreed to
pay. The broker commented to us

A Ford dealer in Bristol was delighted with the service received
from The Claims Consultancy following a major fire at their local
premises.
Despite the severity of the fire, which resulted in losses for
material damage and business interruption in excess of £400,000,
settlement of the claim was achieved within nine weeks of instruction.
The early settlement was achieved due to an integrated team approach
by the brokers, John Eke and Partners, the adjusters, and the
newly formed Claims Consultancy Co. Ltd who had been retained
by the Insured to advise them following the loss.

Following the repudiation of a £100,000 claim, the Brokers, Torribles
of Bristol, referred the case to us. Insurers reversed their decision
and Torribles Special Risks Manager said "We have no doubt that
